Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met budding young scientists at the Qasr Al Bahr Majlis on Tuesday.

The Crown Prince's special guests were the winners of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Festival’s competition – a contest organised by the Ministry of Education.

The pupils' parents also attended the majlis, where Sheikh Mohamed congratulated the winners and expressed how proud he was of their achievements.

He said he hoped they would continue to excel and scale new scientific and academic heights, reported state news agency Wam.

"One of the most important reasons behind our optimism, ambition and happiness is that we see inspirational national models provided by our students who are investing their time and potential in innovative work and pioneering projects that serve their society and help their nation scale new heights," Sheikh Mohamed said.

He said achieving global competitiveness begins with the work of creative pupils.

"Empowering, motivating and encouraging our students is a priority that tops our national agenda," Sheikh Mohamed said.

Sheikh Mohamed was briefed by the pupils on their innovations during the meeting.
