The UAE stands with Saudi Arabia in confronting any challenges that threaten the security and stability of the region, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said on Sunday.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces made the statements during a phone call with Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

Condemning the recent attacks on Aramco's Abqaiq processing plant and Khurais oilfield, Sheikh Mohamed said they were subversive acts undermining regional efforts for peace. He said both countries shared the same goals to safeguard the future and security of those living in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Middle East region as a whole.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed the UAE's support for all measures taken by the kingdom to ensure the safety of its citizens and all those living in it, according to state news agency Wam.

“UAE and Saudi Arabia are standing as partners in facing besetting challenges," he said. "Our shared goals are the security of our nations."

Sheikh Mohamed said Saudi Arabia played a pivotal role in countering terrorism and reinforcing regional and international peace and stability.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues and stressed their desire to enhance bilateral ties.
