Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received a phone call from Prince Charles on Monday, during which the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces inquired about his health.

The Prince of Wales tested positive for Covid-19 on March 25 but had only mild symptoms and was able to continue working from home, Clarence House said.

At the time, Sheikh Mohamed wished the prince, 71, a speedy recovery.

Prince Charles, who is next in line to the British throne, has since recovered, making a statement on April 1 in which he praised medical staff for their work.

On Monday, Sheikh Mohamed and Prince Charles spoke about the latest global developments regarding coronavirus and ways to further co-operation between the UAE and UK.

"During a call with my dear friend Prince Charles, we spoke about Covid-19 developments and bilateral ties. I’m delighted to hear he’s now in good health and wish a fast recovery to those affected by the virus. We extend our support to the UK as we overcome this global crisis together," Sheikh Mohamed said on Twitter.

During the call, Sheikh Mohamed also offered his condolences to Prince Charles over the deaths of more than 16,000 people in the UK as a result of the virus and wished a swift recovery for those still battling Covid-19.

Prince Charles thanked Sheikh Mohamed for his good wishes and support, reported state news agency Wam.
