Sheikh Khalifa, the President, held a formal meeting with David Cameron, the UK prime minister, today at No 10 Downing Street on the second day of his state visit.
Other senior UAE officials also held formal meetings with their British counterparts, where the range of the relationship, from trade, to defence, to foreign policy, was discussed.
The two governments signed two memoranda of understanding on the creation of a dialogue of values and qualification of frameworks, while the UAE and the UK also pledged to provide funding to help Somalia fight its horrific levels of sexual violence.
Later Sheikh Khalifa, laid a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey.
The President was aided by two Emirati Sandhurst graduates; Second Lt Mouza Khamis Al Nuaimi and First Lt Hamad Al Ameri.
Sheikh Khalifa joins a list of nearly 80 world leaders who have made the pilgrimage to the Abbey to honour all of Britain's war dead.
It is also a tradition for Royal brides married in Westminster Abbey to lay their bouquets on the tomb, the latest being Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, two years ago.
