Sheikh Khalifa confers Order of Independence on two ambassadors

Envoys from Canada and Cyprus honoured in Abu Dhabi ceremony

President Sheikh Khalifa conferred the Order of Independence, First Class, on the ambassadors of Canada and Cyprus on Tuesday.

Masud Husain, the Canadian ambassador, and Vasilis Polemitis, of Cyprus, were honoured for their efforts towards the development and strengthening of co-operation between their countries and the UAE, in a variety of fields, during their tenures.

The orders were presented to them by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, at the ministry's diwan in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Sheikh Abdullah commended the two for their work and wished them success in future assignments.

Mr Husain and Mr Polemitis thanked the UAE government departments for supporting them in their missions, the state news agency Wam reported.
