Sharjah getting closer to census findings

Data has been verified but final collection of data is being conducted before final report is sent to the Sharjah Ruler.

SHARJAH // Information submitted by residents during last October’s census has been verified, officials say.

However, the Department of Statistics and Community Development said data is still being collected on Emiratis living abroad or in other emirates.

The census was ordered last February by Sharjah Ruler Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi so accurate statistical data could be provided on economic, social and demographic sectors.

Census teams gathered information about the population, infrastructure, housing and establishments in the emirate.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, chairman of the department and general supervisor of the Sharjah Census, said a final report will be submitted to Sheikh Sultan for approval. The report will include information on residents, homes, facilities and businesses, to enable decision-makers to develop plans for necessary development.
