Sharjah allocates Dh70.6m for settling debts of Emiratis

A Sharjah committee has approved more than Dh70.6 million in funds to settle the debts of Emiratis who have defaulted on payments.

The Sharjah Debt Settlement Committee approved the pay out under orders from Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the emirate’s ruler.

Rashid Al Sheikh, chief of Sharjah Emiri Court and head of the committee, said the money will be the 18th batch of payments put towards settling the debts of Emiratis, though he did not disclose how many citizens would benefit from the amount.

He said the committee has paid Dh662.6m to settle debts for 1,320 Emiratis since its inception.

Last year, the committee approved more than Dh59m to settle 14 cases.
