President Sheikh Khalifa returns from Pakistan

The President, Sheikh Khalifa, returned to the UAE on Saturday from a private trip to Pakistan.

He was welcomed home to Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces; Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, the Representative of the President; and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, among other members of the ruling families.

At the end of his visit to Pakistan, Sheikh Khalifa met with the country’s prime minister, Nawaz Sharif.

The President thanked Mr Sharif for the welcome he received and the pair discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations.

Sheikh Khalifa described relations between the countries as “distinguished and developing”, stressing the importance for both to continue to bolster understanding and cooperation.

He said the UAE was keen to continue its ongoing support of the Pakistani people to help improve development, stability and welfare.

Mr Sharif thanked the UAE for its continuing humanitarian support in various Pakistani provinces and welcomed further cooperation.

He praised Sheikh Khalifa’s leadership, which he said had enabled the UAE and its people to achieve their goals, particularly in the cultural development of the country.

He also said Pakistanis had a strong love for the UAE’s leadership and people.

Sheikh Khalifa was accompanied to Pakistan by a delegation of high-ranking officials.
