New power plant opens in Fujairah

The new plant will serve residential buildings and businesses in Tawyeen and surrounding areas.

FUJAIRAH // A Dh29.7 million power station was opened in Fujairah on Thursday.

The 75-megavolt plant wills erve residential buildings and business in Tawyeen and surrounding areas, reported Wam, the state news agency.

It is part of plans by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority to meet growing demand caused by population growth.

“The new station will ease the load off another three stations in the emirate to ensure sustained flow and efficiency of energy,’’ said Mohammed Saleh, the authority’s director general.

Last year, Fewa commissioned the development of substations in Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain to provide electricity to new housing and infrastructure projects.
