RAS AL KHAIMAH // More than a hundred mourners gathered under grey skies in Sha’am to pay their respects to an Emirati police officer killed in a Bahrain bomb attack on Monday.

First Lieutenant Tariq Al Shehi, a 41-year-old father of four, died after an improvised bomb exploded as security forces dispersed Shiite protesters in the village of Daih, near Manama.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Interior received Lt Al Shehi’s body at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport on Tuesday.

Sheikh Saif described the blast as a terrorist attack and hailed Lt Al Shehi as a martyr.

Two other police officers with the Bahraini security forces were killed in the blast.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, National Security Advisor, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud, Crown Prince of RAK, attended the funeral on Tuesday afternoon.
