Ministry mandates companies to employ Emiratis in data-entry positions

The rules stipulated in the new decree apply to companies registered with Tas'heel online services that employe more than 1,000 workers.

ABU DHABI // Major UAE firms will have to employ Emiratis for data-entry positions starting from next January.

The rules stipulated in the new decree apply to companies registered with Tas’heel online services that employ more than 1,000 workers.

Companies that violate the regulations will lose additional work permits, said Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, on Wednesday. There are 375 major companies that employ more than 1,000 workers.

“This new decree aims to provide job opportunities for our citizens, something which aids the ongoing private-sector Emiratisation process, hence the ministry’s recent name change,” the minister said. It was previously known as the Ministry of Labour.

Mr Ghobash said the ministry would provide a list of qualified Emiratis who can fill the positions.
