DUBAI // A Government ministerial retreat will begin today to discuss the UAE’s future.

The retreat aims to draft a comprehensive national programme to develop a sustainable economy. It will be held with ministers, federal and local officials, and several economists.

“We decided to convene a ministerial retreat to discuss UAE’s economy beyond oil,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said on Twitter. “Today, 70 per cent of our GDP is independent from oil.
