The union of the seven emirates is a blessing that should be preserved, this week’s sermon tells worshippers.
“Unity is a base for the rise of civilisations ... therefore it was a will passed by Allah on to all His prophets,” the sermon states.
It quotes a verse from the Quran: “And that which we commended unto Ibrahim and Moses and Jesus, saying, ‘Establish the religion, and be not divided therein’.”
Unity is a gift from Allah that could not have been achieved without His blessing.
“If thou hadst spent all that is in the earth thou couldst not have attuned their hearts, but Allah hath attuned them. Lo! He is mighty, wise,” states the Quran.
The sermon explains that Allah reminded people of how they were divided and diverse before He bestowed on them the blessings of love, unity and stability.
“Allah has encouraged the spirit of the union through acts of worship to show us that worship is a path to unity,” the sermon says.
It points out that when the Quran orders worshippers to pray or pay zakat, it always addresses the orders to a group.
“Even when He mentions building the earth He addresses all people as a group and not as individuals,” says the sermon.
It quotes another verse from the Quran: “He brought you forth from the earth and hath made you husband it. So ask forgiveness of Him and turn unto Him repentant.”
