Etisalat customers will be given a unique opportunity to register as volunteers at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The telecoms provider, which is an official partner of the Expo 2020 Volunteers Programme, said it will launch a campaign to encourage its customers to get involved in the largest event  set to be held in the Arab world.

The company, however, did not divulge further details of its  campaign.

At least 30,000 volunteers will take on roles that include welcoming guests and guiding visitors in the run up to and during Expo 2020, which runs from October 2020 to April 2021.

The volunteers – some of whom have already started their roles – will dedicate more than 16 million hours spread across 173 days.

The programme is open to all adult UAE residents including university students, graduates and people with disabilities.

"We look forward to working with Etisalat to connect with the volunteers who will play a crucial role in ensuring that Expo 2020 Dubai is the world's greatest show," Abeer Al Hosani, director of the Expo 2020 volunteers programme, said.

“We have created meaningful roles that will lead to work-ready skills, as well as an exceptional experience that will remain with volunteers for life," she said.

The expo  became  Etisalat's first major 5G commercial customer in the Middle East, Africa and south Asia region.

Under the terms of the deal, Etisalat will  provide advanced digital and telecom services at the expo site  and to millions of visitors.
