The new national agenda for the 2021 Vision, as spelt out by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, will “act as a significant boost for the development of the UAE”.

That was the view of Majida Ali Rashid, head of the real estate investment management and promotion centre, the investment arm of the Dubai Land Department.

“The initiative will kick-start new cycles of growth that will allow the UAE to continue to forge a path as a world-leading nation,” Ms Rashid said.

Sara Al Boom, a student at the American University of Dubai and an Expo 2020 ambassador, said: “It is the responsibility of all of us who have a stake in this great nation to do our utmost to strive to keep the UAE beacon shining.

“Through this initiative the UAE will maintain its attractiveness as the best investment destination and the safest place for citizens, residents and tourists alike to work, live, travel and enjoy their lives.

“Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to enhance the education sector in the UAE using smart devices and technologically advanced platforms is a bold move.

“As a student, I personally believe that it’s an essential concept to focus on for the next couple of years as we are approaching our golden jubilee, and investing in kindergartens is the right way to begin this successful venture.”

Sultan Al Sammahi, an FNC member (Fujairah), said Sheikh Mohammed’s initiative on Emiratisation would be very effective in the coming years.

“Emiratisation needs a sovereign decision and that decision came from our Government,” Mr Al Sammahi said. “Sheikh Mohammed is able to guide the people and that is a step we are used to from him.”

“This initiative shows the various opportunities that the Government gives to the people.”

He said the Cabinet was always aiming to be the responsible entity when it came to Emiratisation

“Our goal is to allow leadership positions, like managers and administrators, to Emiratis,” Mr Al Sammahi said. “The focus is to increase the number of national in federal and local entities.”

He said the constitution of the UAE entailed that each national had the priority of finding residence, health care, education and a suitable occupation that guarantees they are living well.

“Emiratis are responsible for the development of this country,” Mr Al Sammahi said. “Nationals have proved they are competent in many, in fact, all fields. Therefore we must give them the chance to lead.”

Essa Al Maidoor, director general of the Dubai Health Authority, said the Dubai Health Strategy 2013-2025, chalked out last year, is in accordance with the 2021 Vision.

The masterplan that will shape the emirate’s healthcare system aims to put Dubai on the map.

“This put a clear vision for health care; what do we need, where have we been, where are we going,” said Mr Al Maidoor.

He said the masterplan was in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed for the emirate to achieve global medical standards.

The 12-year plan details ways to boost health care in Dubai and turn the emirate into a hub for medical tourism.

“I am keen to see all these projects coming up and to see Dubai as one of the world recognised health hubs, which can help all those of the people in need,” said Mr Al Maidoor.
