The Emirates Red Crescent distributed 2,500 food baskets to needy families in the city of Mukalla on Wednesday.
The drive’s aim is to provide relief for thousands of families in the southern Yemeni city affected by the country’s continuing conflict, a delegation from the Red Crescent said, according to Wam, the state news agency.
The initiative is a part of the organisation’s continued efforts to provide health care and other essential services to Yemenis in areas liberated from Houthi rebels in the country’s continuing civil war.
The Red Crescent recently established a health centre in Mukalla, which opened its doors a few days ago. This followed the society’s opening of dengue fever unit in Aden’s Republic Hospital, following an outbreak of the disease in southern Yemen in June.
