A boy with special needs has had his wish to fly over Abu Dhabi fulfilled by police.

Khaled, who is disabled and must use an electric wheelchair, was treated to a helicopter ride over the capital as part of an activity organised by Abu Dhabi Police and Zayed Higher Organisation.

Police released a video on Monday showing Khaled being helped from his hospital bed, dressed in a pilot’s uniform and taken to Al Bateen Executive Airport where he met with members of the police air wing team.

The video shows Khaled steering himself out on to the tarmac, in his wheelchair, before being helped to board a helicopter that is flown over the capital. Khaled looks out on to the city at sites, such as Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the UAE flag on the breakwater, with a broad smile etched on his face.

“Not every wish remains a dream,” the video said. “It is our message to make all more happy.”
