People are still allowed to go out but only one member of a household can now leave home for essential shopping in supermarkets and pharmacies.
The only other journeys that are allowed are to hospital or for a doctor’s appointment.
Dubai Police have warned residents via their Twitter account, asking them to keep documents, such as receipts, that prove they were out on urgent matters to have their fines waived.
“These measures have been put in place to ensure people undertake trips outside the home in a planned and organised way,” Dubai Media Office said on Saturday.
Residents have also been advised to wear a mask when they are outside, whether or not they are showing symptoms of Covid-19.

New travel restrictions were imposed in Dubai on Saturday as The National Sterilisation Programme has been extended to 24 hours for two weeks.
The permit system that allowed residents to go outside of their homes has been suspended and all residents have been asked to stay at home.
Employees working in vital sectors such as health care, supermarkets, food deliveries, utilities, telecoms and media can leave home, but need to carry their IDs for checking by the police.
Those in support services such as banking and financial services, social welfare, laundries and maintenance are allowed to commute from 8am to 2pm.
