Police in Dubai are going on patrol on scooters to ensure residents are abiding by stay-home measures.
The roll-out of the agile two-wheeled fleet will allow officers to keep pace with those breaching orders and access narrow alleys and pathways.
The mobile unit will embrace technology to help stem the spread of Covid-19 and bolster public health.
“The officers will be patrolling areas on scooters and will be wearing smart helmets equipped with thermal cameras to detect people's body temperatures,” said Brig Abdullah Khadem, director of Bur Dubai Police Station.
"They will also make sure people are not breaching the 10pm movement restrictions.
"The scooter runs on a battery that lives about eight hours."
Each scooter was equipped with a first-aid kit for cases of emergency.
The senior official urged the public to continue to adhere to safety measures in place to stem the spread of coronavirus.
Residents remain in doors - apart from in cases of emergency - from 10pm until 6am each day.
Members of the public can move freely outside those hours, but are advised to only leave the home for essential reasons and to adopt social distancing practices.
