DUBAI // A research institution is preparing to launch a council to promote dialogue and knowledge sharing among Government entities.

The Knowledge and Policies Council would allow members of Government bodies to discuss different themes and improve communication, the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government announced on Wednesday.

Government institutions have evolved dramatically, “becoming a worldwide reference for best practices”, said Ali Sebaa Al Marri, executive president of the school.

“However, the rapid development of the world today on various aspects has led to an uneven level of practices between one entity and the other, creating a differentiation in capabilities and performance.”

The first session is to feature a discussion on leadership in the country and examine the possibility of making the council into a “school of thought” – called the UAE Leadership School – for leadership development.

“This is the talk of the town,” said Mohammed Al Khatib, director of public relations at the school.

Sessions would be recorded for research and training purposes at the school and published on its website and on social media.

Outcomes of the sessions are to be used in a scientific paper for publication, according to the school.

More details about the council would be shared at its first session next Tuesday, said Mr Al Khatib.

Formerly known as the Dubai School of Government, the Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government focuses on public policy in the country and region, and was established in 2005 under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

The school collaborates and organises policy forums and conferences.
