Abu Dhabi think tank to study Eurasia

A local think tank is launching a project to study Eurasian security issues in-depth.

ABU DHABI // A local think tank is taking an in-depth look at security in Eurasia and its importance to Gulf through a new collaboration with Russian and Canadian experts.

Trends Research and Advisory, a think tank in Abu Dhabi, said the project will involve publications, workshops and conferences on security in the region, which stretches from China to the Middle East.

Security politics, political stability, integration, trade and investment will be studied by the think tank along with Valdai Discussion Club, a foundation in Moscow, and the Centre for Public Management and Governance in Ottawa.

Dr Ahmed Al Hamli, president and founder of Trends, said security efforts in GCC countries require increased cooperation.

Eurasia is crucial for security in both economic and security terms, said Dr Fyodor Lukyanov, research director of the Valdai Discussion Club.

“Nowhere but here can we see all global and regional trends more intertwined and reinforcing each otherwise,” he said.
