Abu Dhabi launches census project
The results will be used as a reference during policy-making
Abu Dhabi has launched a census project on Thursday in an effort to gather valuable information about the UAE capital’s population.
Census Project 2020 was launched by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi and plans to collect data on Emiratis and residents and issue statistical indexes for monitoring the emirate’s rapid population increase.
The results will be used as references during policy-making, reported state news agency Wam.
Abdullah Al Suwaidi, director-general of SCAD, said the project will use administrative records and advanced technologies, to ensuring accuracy and speed when collecting data, as an alternative to the traditional fieldwork.
He said the project was launched on the directives of the UAE’s leadership with the aim of improving quality of life in Abu Dhabi.
