ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi have started an inspection campaign at construction sites in the capital to ensure that worker safety rules are being followed.
Municipality inspectors visited building projects in Al Khalidiya neighbourhood, on the western part of Abu Dhabi Island.
The campaign aimed at encouraging safe and healthy working environments at the sites and protecting the lives of workers and passers-by, said Musabbah Al Murar, acting general manager of Abu Dhabi Municipality.
He urged developers and builders to take precautions and meet environment, health and safety standards to maintain workers’ safety and reduce workplace hazards.
The municipality also warned on Monday that it would take action against those who violate building rules, while Mr Al Murar called for intensifying inspections of construction sites.
Mr Al Murar met workers and site managers, and reiterated the importance of educating workers about the standards.
