The cast of the American comedy drama Glee recently overtook Elvis Presley to become the fastest act ever to notch up 20 top 40 hits. They did so in 57 weeks, compared to the (still impressive) 88 it took Presley. We look at some other notable musical statistics.
Take Five... Ke$ha
Surprisingly, Tik Tok, the debut single from Ke$ha, was the biggest digital track in the world for 2010 with 12.8 million copies sold digitally. She even beat Lady Gaga's Poker Face by some three million.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Elton John's Candle in the Wind (the version re-released in 1997 for Princess Diana's funeral) is the biggest-selling single of all time. It went 11 times platinum with sales of 33 million.

In November last year Take That's Progress became the fastest-selling UK album of the century, with almost 520,000 copies being purchased in the first week. The return of Robbie Williams after a 15-year absence may have had something to do with it.

In its list of artists' milestones, the US magazine Billboard notes that The Rolling Stones hold the title for the most top 10 albums ever with 36.

Pink Floyd's The Dark Sideof the Moonis the album that has spent the most time in the Billboard 200 chart (which ranks the 200 highest-selling music album in the US) - it stayed there for no fewer than 775 weeks.
