Girl in stable condition after suffering bruises, but woman dies after falling from sixth-floor balcony in another incident.
Girl, 7, survives three-storey fall
SHARJAH // A seven-year-old girl survived a three-storey fall on Friday but a woman died yesterday when she fell from a sixth-floor balcony.
The first accident happened in Nabbaa area on Friday morning. The Egyptian girl, identified as Diana, fell from the balcony of her family's apartment. She was taken to Al Qassimi hospital, where she remained yesterday in a stable condition.
Dr Abdul Wahed Al Waheid, the hospital's deputy director of technical affairs, said she had bruising but did not need intensive care. It was a first case of a child falling from a building this year, although there were several last year.
Yesterday at about 7am, a Russian woman, aged 28, fell to her death from the sixth floor of a building in the Al Majaz area. She was dead by the time police reached the scene.
An Indonesian maid fell to her death from a ninth-floor balcony in the same area on Tuesday.
