Get set for 47ºC and 95% humidity as UAE weather hots up

Highs of 47ºC expected in inland areas, with temperatures reaching 47ºC along the coast.

ABU DHABI// Temperatures are predicted to rise to almost 50 degrees in desert areas this weekend with humidity hitting highs of 95 per cent.

"The weather will be relatively hot across all the region and there is a chance of convective clouds, especially in the eastern region," said a spokesman for the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

Highs of 47ºC are expected in the interior and 40ºC on the coast, with lows of 23ºC in the interior and 25ºC on the coast expected.

Easterly to north-westerly winds could reach 40kph in the interior, 45kph along coastal areas and 45kph in the mountains.

Relative humidity is expected to reach highs of 90 per cent in the interior and 95 per cent on the coast. In mountainous areas humidity will be much lower, with expected highs of 34 per cent.

Humidity will increase during the night and in the early morning over the coastal and internal areas, resulting in a chance of clouds over the western region this weekend.

"The sea will be slight to moderate and maybe rough at times during the day time," the NCMS spokesman said.
