Four men have been arrested and accused of stealing Dh21,000 from a shop in Ras Al Kahimah.

The men, all Arabs, broke into the store and prised open the safe before making off with the cash.

The gang were arrested in less than 24 hours later with the help of Ajman Police, said Brigadier Abdullah Mankhas, director of RAK Police CID.

“After receiving the robbery report, police forces were dispatched to the scene where they found that the robbers broke into the shop from the back door and managed to open the safe box and steal Dh21,000 in cash,” he said.

An investigation team soon led to one of the suspects living nearby. He admitted being part of the gang.

The other three men were arrested in an apartment in Ajman. A system check on their names showed they had criminal records and had been convicted for raids on proprties before. They had been deported but re-entered illegally. Police did not say which country they were from.

The men have been referred to prosecutors.

Brig Mankhas Police urged owners of shops, companies and offices to take all the security measures and avoid leaving money on the premises overnight.

Rak Police said they are carrying out visits to shops and checking on their security systems and CCTV cameras.
