Fujairah roads average close to 30 accidents a day
DUBAI // Eighteen people have died in Fujairah as a result of the 5,282 traffic accidents recorded in the emirate in the first half of this year, police say.
A further 81 were either seriously or mildly injured in the traffic accidents, and 127 sustained minor injuries.
Fujairah Police chief Brigadier General Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanem Al Kaabi told Al Ittihad newspaper his department is working on increasing the number of patrols on vital roads.
He also noted that a number of new radars – both fixed and mobile – would be installed on the new Khalifa bin Zayed Street. A number of radars will be relocated to accident hotspots and roads with high traffic, including the Hamad bin Abdullah highway.
