Shoppers will receive free flu vaccinations at malls in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain as part of National Day celebrations.

The Ambulatory Healthcare Services (Seha) will be providing jabs from Friday until Monday - from 2pm until 10pm on each day - at Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, Dalma Mall, Mushrif Mall and Al Ain Mall.

Health authorities have encouraged high risk groups such as the elderly, young or those with pre-existing health conditions to get vaccinated early through their GP.

UAE doctors have said 2018 could be one of the worst winters for the virus in recent years.

The flu season usually lasts for about six to eight months from September to April, with October the peak season.
