Four gang members who stole cars and motorbikes to face theft charges
The men confessed to stealing five cars and two motorbikes, which they said they would drive around then park in a remote area for the police to find them
A four-member gang that stole five cars and two motorcycles from different areas in Ajman has been arrested, said an official.
Maj Mohamed Al Ghafly, deputy director of Ajman Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, said that the four gang members were GCC nationals and were arrested after the department received a number of complaints from the public about their cars and motorbikes being stolen while being parked in front of their homes.
A team of CID officers was set up to investigate and to collect information and evidence, said the major, adding that investigations revealed the involvement of the four men.
“Two of them were arrested in Al Muwaihat area and on being confronted, they confessed to stealing five cars and said that their accomplices who lived in Al Rawda helped them steal two motorbikes from a repair shop, which they said they would drive around then park in a remote area for the police to find them,” said the major.
The men allegedly hot-wired the cars after smashing the windows to gain access.
The four, whose ages were not disclosed by police, were referred to the public prosecution to face theft charges.
