Four arrested over bootlegger death
SHARJAH // Four men, including two brothers, have been arrested for allegedly killing an illegal alcohol seller during a robbery.
Col Mohammed Rashid Al Bayat, the director general of the CID at Sharjah police, said the men posed as CID officers, threatening bootleggers and taking their money.
"On Sunday morning, police found the body of an Indian lying in a pool of blood on a road in Industrial Area 4," Col Al Bayat said. "He had various stab wounds."
The dead man was identified as SB Surindar, 25, who, police say, had just entered the country on a tourist visa and was involved inillegal alcohol sales.
Police identified the two brothers, raided their home and arrested them. They allegedly told police two other men, an Emirati and a stateless man, were also involved.
The other two were later arrested.
All of the men, aged between 18 and 26, had previous criminal records for charges including theft, assault and drug consumption, police claimed.
They have been referred to prosecution.
