Three men and a woman who were arrested over a bloody brawl in a brothel were convicted of facilitating prostitution.
On April 21, Dubai police were called to a building in Hor Al Anz after an Indian man, 28, fell from the second floor window.
A police patrol discovered him with an injured leg and arm, and took him to hospital.
Another police patrol went to the apartment from where the man fell, but found the door locked and screams could be heard from inside.
"A man's voice was heard saying that they had been locked inside by the person who fell from the window. We found the key where the man had landed," said a policeman, 63.
A number of men and women were found inside the flat, which was demarcated into rooms with plywood and used as a brothel.
"Two of the men were customers and one of them had suffered a bad stab wound to his thigh. He told us that a fight had started with the brothel keeper (the man who fell from the window)," said the policeman.
An Indian woman, 25, who worked as a prostitute was also found injured inside the apartment.
"The apartment's floor was stained with blood and broken pieces of glasses were scattered around," said the policeman.
Investigations revealed the Indian man who had fallen from the window, along with two other Bangladeshi men, 36 and 33, ran the brothel.
"They charged customers Dh50 each," said the policeman.
The men were charged with running a brothel, which they admitted during police questioning and at Dubai Criminal Court last month.
They were sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Dh100,000 each.
The woman admitted to the charge of working as a prostitute and was sentenced to three years in prison.
All four will be deported after serving their prison terms.
