Sharjah's Al Majaz Waterfront is to be the latest UAE space to install a tourist-wowing fountain as part of plans to attract more visitors to the destination.

The attraction has announced two different fountain shows: one at the centre of a lake will send jets of water as high as 120 metres into the air; and the other will be a musical, choreographed fountain show.

The displays will have different themes and use laser arrangements.

Marwa Obaid Al Shamsi, manager of Al Majaz Waterfront, said: “Being one of Sharjah’s and the UAE’s most iconic family, leisure and lifestyle destinations, we consider it imperative to keep adding value to our offerings.

“Summer is a perfect time to bring your family to the venue in the evening and enjoy our spectacular fountain shows, which display a wide variety of musical themes."

The themes will include Arabic music from Dima and Raya, as well as international picks like Danza del Sable, Carmina Burana and music by Tchaikovsky.

Al Majaz Waterfront hosts a variety of artistic and entertainment activities throughout the year. It hosts 220m-wide fountains that overlook the piazza.

Five shows starting at 7pm are hosted daily, followed by shows at 8pm, 9.30pm, 10.30pm and ending with a final show at 11.30pm. During the weekends, there is an additional late show at 12.30am.

It was announced last month that the Dh800 million waterfront dining and entertainment spot The Pointe on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is getting its own dancing fountain, across the bay from Atlantis The Palm.
