A former managing director of Leeds United Football Club has been held for five days by police in Dubai on charges of breach of trust and embezzlement of nearly Dh24 million.
David Haigh, 36, had served as deputy chief executive and legal adviser at GFH Capital Limited in Dubai.
The company filed a complaint after it allegedly found irregularities in its annual audit.
The company’s lawyer filed a complaint with Dubai Police claiming that Mr Haigh had embezzled Dh23.7m from the company.
He has been held since last Sunday and the case referred to prosecutors.
