DUBAI // Waves of more than two metres are expected to batter the coast today, weather forecasters have warned.

Cloudy, windy conditions in the Arabian Gulf will cause the rough seas and dust storms.

“We are advising people to be extra careful if they are planning to go in the water,” said a weather forecaster at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology in Abu Dhabi.

Drivers were urged to take care as rain and some fog is also expected.

The unsettled weather means there is a chance of light rain or drizzle in northern and western areas tomorrow morning.

This follows 7.5 millimetres of rainyesterday in the north-west town of Ruwais.

Temperatures are expected to remain stable into the weekend, with daytime highs of about 30°C along the coast and 33°C in internal and mountain areas.

At night, temperatures will drop to as low as 17°C along the coast, 14°C internally and 11°C in the mountains.

“The humidity will also be high in the evening and early morning, at around 90 to 95 per cent,” said the forecaster.

Less cloud cover is expected on Friday and Saturday, although temperatures will stay the same.
