Foggy mornings prompt warning for commuters between Abu Dhabi and Dubai
Mist and fog reduced visibility to less than 1km in parts of the country on Sunday morning.
Fog was particularly dense in areas such as Liwa, Sweihan, Al Marafa and Al Hamra with the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology warning motorists commuting between emirates to drive cautiously.
Otherwise hot and hazy conditions are expected with temperatures ranging between 31°C and 46°C along the coast and 32°C to 48°C inland.
More rain is expected throughout the week as towering clouds form over the eastern and northern areas of the country.
Heavy to moderate showers and strong dusty winds lashed Shweib, Al Madam Al Ain and Liwa on Friday and Saturday.
Seas will be rough in both the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman as wind speeds pick up to 36 kph.
Similar conditions will persist over the next two days.
Humidity levels are expected to increase to 80 per cent overnight and early into Monday morning.
The highest temperature recorded in the country on Saturday was 49.5°C in Sweihan with the lowest temperature recorded as 25 °C in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah.
