ABU DHABI // Fog, mist, wind and an increase in temperatures are expected this weekend.
There will be a mist formation and a “small chance” of fog over scattered areas on Friday, according to the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).
Friday temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 30ºC to 31ºC in the interior and 26ºC to 28ºC on the coast.
“Winds are expected to shift to southerly or southeasterly, accelerating at times,” said the forecaster at NCMS. “This will cause rising dust over some areas at times. But in general, visibility will be fair.”
It will be relatively humid late Friday night and early Saturday morning along the coast.
More than 2,000 athletes are expected to take over the capital during the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon on Saturday, and can expect favourable weather conditions.
The 223-kilometre main ‘long course’ consists of a gruelling 3km swim, a 200km cycle and 20km closing run.
“There are no chances of fog on Saturday,” the forecaster said. “Winds will be light to moderate and dusty at times.”
Seas will be slight to moderate. There will be a sudden increase in temperatures, expected to reach 28ºC to 32º in the interior, and 27ºC to 29ºC on the coast.
