A fight between two women arguing over their untidy apartment left one partially blind and the other in prison, a court has heard.
The dispute broke out after one of the flatmates complained that her friend’s belongings were scattered around the flat in a slovenly mess.
The Moroccan victim, aged 38, said she was fed up with the clutter and told the Tunisian woman, 36, to help tidy the apartment.
But the flatmate refused and the pair, who lived in a flat in Al Muraqqabat, Dubai, started fighting.
“She told me she could keep her stuff wherever she wanted and we started arguing about that,” said the victim, adding that the bickering soon escalated.
She accused the defendant of jumping on top of her and beating her up.
Dubai Criminal Court heard that the fight broke out on September 15 in 2015.
The two women’s screams woke up a third flatmate who found the pair punching each other and pulling at each other’s hair.
“I found them fighting, punching and pulling each other’s hair,” said the 34-year-old Tunisian. “I managed to break up the fight and went back to sleep.”
But minutes later the pair began fighting again, leaving the Moroccan flatmate bleeding from her right eye.
The third flatmate separated the two women again and the police were called. The victim was taken to Rashid hospital.
The defendant was charged with physical assault and causing a permanent disability to the Moroccan victim. She was sentenced to six months in prison followed by deportation.
