DUBAI // Three men, who raped a woman after luring her to the UAE with the promise of a job as a maid, have had their five-year jail terms upheld by the Appeals Court.

The woman arrived in Dubai on December 15 last year after borrowing money from family members to cover her airfare and visa and was met at the airport by two Bangladeshis.

They took her to an apartment in Naif that was being used as a brothel and pushed her into a room where she was raped twice. The next morning one of the prostitutes told her she, too, would have to sell herself.

She was moved to another apartment where she was raped for a third time. When the men took her outside and tried to hail a cab she started screaming for help and a member of the public rushed to her aid. The three men ran off but were tracked down by police.

Last July, the Criminal Court convicted them of human trafficking. They will be deported after completing their jail terms.
