Fire breaks out at warehouse in Umm Al Quwain

Civil Defence sent in to bring blaze under control

A residential building was evacuated on Sunday morning after a fire broke out at a nearby warehouse in Umm Al Quwain.

UAQ Civil Defence received a report about the blaze at 8:45am and sent emergency services to the scene.

Some 120 people were ordered to leave the immediate area for their own safety while firefighters battled to bring the fire under control.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr Salem bin Hamza, director of the department, said no casualties were reported in the incident.

He added that an investigation into the cause of the fire was underway.
