DUBAI // Job seekers will be able to apply for positions in sales, administration, hospitality and engineering at a job fair tomorrow organised by a Filipino bankers' group, following the success of a similar event last year. The initiative is the first major project launched by the UAE Pinoy Bankers Organisation (UAE PBO) this year under its new president, Nelson Labung, who works at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Dubai.
"We've noticed that many Filipinos have lost, and continue to lose, their jobs in Dubai," he said. "The situation in the banking sector, for example, has not yet stabilised, and we hope to be of service to our members and the rest of the Filipino community." An auto company, restaurants, a financial institution, and recruitment and management consultancy firms are participating in the fair at the Flora Grand Hotel. UAE PBO members can look for jobs between noon and 2pm, while non-members, including expatriates from other countries, can attend between 2pm and 4pm.
The group held its first job fair at Al Nasr Leisureland last year, primarily to help members who lost jobs in the banking and finance sectors. rruiz@thenational.ae
