DUBAI // The UAE has seen many knife attacks in recent years – a number of them fatal.
In October 2008, an Asian man was found stabbed to death in Ras Al Khaimah. RAK Police said the 34-year-old had been stabbed five or six times while he slept.
Eighteen months later, a 13-year-old boy was stabbed to death, allegedly by a group of teenagers. The Emirati boy was attacked in Dubai’s Rashidiya area.
A few months after that, an Emirati man was stabbed to death after what police said was a fight over a woman in a Dubai nightclub. .
Last October, two men were arrested after a woman and her two-year-old daughter were robbed at knifepoint in their home in Al Quoz.
Two months ago, a bus driver was caught in Dubai trying to rape a passenger at knifepoint.
Three weeks ago, a 22-year-old Bangladeshi labourer stabbed his cousin in the face and chest over an unpaid debt of Dh11,500 in Dubai.
