A new fast-track digital system is set to greatly reduce the time it takes to recruit teachers for private schools in Abu Dhabi.
The Private Abu Dhabi Schools System (Pass) will cut the number of documents needed to hire a new educator by 30 to just two.
The streamlined process, announced on by Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) at the Gitex event in Dubai, will also make it to easier to teachers to move between schools in the emirate.
Pass has been integrated with other government digital systems to slash paperwork requirements.
Adek is responsible for reviewing teachers' applications in private schools.
They check whether they are eligible to work as teachers in the emirate and if they meet the requirements.
PASS verifies whether a candidate is eligible for a particular position in a particular school.
For example, if they apply to teach mathematics in Grade 11, there are policies and rules that govern this position.
Teachers can apply for the eligibility check from outside the UAE as well.

This will help teachers and schools as they will know if the teachers are eligible to teach or not as per ADEK’s policies.
Earlier, many teachers would travel to Abu Dhabi, only to discover that they are not eligible to work in the emirate.
Now, this process can be done while they are still in their countries.
Earlier it would take two months to get the approval and now it will only takes about 10 days with Pass.
Teachers can use the system to resign, seek transfers from one school to another and request for a promotion.
School licenses go through different departments and earlier, schools used to and upload many documents. Now, a school's license can be renewed in a few steps.
The school may still have to supply some documents such as accreditations from another country.
For teachers, a police clearance certificate and university transcripts need to be uploaded.
Fifteen workshops have been held by Adek to introduce Pass to private schools in the UAE capital.
