ABU DHABI // The glitz and glamour of the fashion channel FTV has come to Al Wahda Mall, in the form of a cafe where customers can have the opportunity to meet visiting models and designers.

The F. Cafe is an ultra-modern destination for Abu Dhabi's discerning fashionistas.

It is the company's first venture in the Emirates, and it will be the site of special events as well as a place for consumers to discover the latest trends and developments in the fashion industry. There are also F. Cafes in Jordan and Kuwait.

Khaled bin Nasser bin Mezkir, the chairman of Al Shafi Investment Group, officially inaugurated the cafe on Friday night, along with FTV president Michel Adam.

The cafe had its soft opening on December 11, and has been doing good business since, with about 80 customers a day.

Eight European FTV models sashayed across the cafe floor, glamming up the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The tall and ultra slim models, who have also appeared at Dubai Fashion Week, captivated shoppers who crowded outside the cafe to catch a glimpse.

"This is a very strongly themed cafe," Mr Mezkir said. "This is not just about coffee. We will be updating our guests about the latest fashion and will be supporting local fashion designers."

There has been a gap in the market for an independent food and beverage developer to focus on flagship destination venues, Mr Mezkir said.

"This cafe is dedicated to the people who love fashion and luxury - and the prices on the menu are not expensive," said Veronica Dutu, FTV outlet manager.

"We will organise some private events and parties for our regular customers. We will have lots of famous designers who will come to the outlet and present their outfits.

"We will also be inviting models and fashion designers so that customers can meet them and chat."
