Family life key to stable society

The Interior Minister pledges to ensure the stability of society and family life, saying it was one of its main security priorities.

ABU DHABI // The Interior Minister pledged yesterday to ensure the stability of society and family life in the country, saying it was one of its main security priorities. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed said the ministry was keen to put in place all the ingredients for a strong, stable environment, through areas such as community and traffic policing.

"The understanding of family security is so broad as to include providing security for the family inside the home as well as providing traffic security and safety," he said in a statement released yesterday on WAM. He added that the security strategy adopted by the Interior Ministry also prioritised community police, and developing community police into separate police centres devoted to family issues, the statement said.

Sheikh Saif delivered his statement at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abu Dhabi at the end of the first workshop for strategic planning, organised by the general command of Abu Dhabi police. The workshop, which ended on Thursday, ran for two days and analysed the consequences of the Government's 2010 strategic plan for the Abu Dhabi police. Sheikh Saif said he was pleased to see that the police leadership team's understanding of the strategic plan had evolved. He also noted that this understanding went across all departments, which had used the workshop to identify their security priorities and consider how to face challenges in a transparent way.

"These strengths and weakness are very important and compatible with the agenda set for the year 2010," he said. relass@thenational.ae
