AL AIN // Single men will not be allowed to enter a popular picnic spot during Eid Al Fitr.

For the first two days of the holidy, Green Mubazzarah park will be reserved for families only.

About 10,000 people are expected to visit the park, at the foot of Jebel Hafeet, during Eid.

It attracts visitors from across the country because of its lush landscape, swimming pools and hot-water springs.

"We are encouraging individuals to visit Jabel Hafeet, the highest mountain in the region, and visit other parks, as Green Mubazzarah will be open for families only from early morning until night," said Hazzam Abdullah Al Dhaheri, deputy manager at the municipality's public health department.

"The municipality will deploy about 127 persons inside and outside the park, who will stop each car at entry points to ensure only families enter.

"Many visitors are expected to come to this place to swim in the naturally hot waters flowing directly from water wells in the valley."

The park has separate swimming pools for men and women, barbecue stands, playgrounds and sitting areas. The park's lake was recently cleaned and purified after dead fish were found in the water.

Mr Al Dhaheri said the main roads in and around Al Ain have been cleaned, with mud and sand removed and new traffic signs put in place.

He urged visitors to maintain the cleanliness of Al Ain and throw any rubbish in the designated bins.

Municipal workers have spent a month removing about 250 tonnes of waste, from broken to dumped rubbish, from across Al Ain.
