Families cautioned against online photo sharing

The warning comes after reports of residents falling prey to extortion scams

Police in Abu Dhabi have warned against posting personal photos and videos on social media, after cases emerged where material was used to extort money from sharers.

Officers believe that posting such images may put the security of families at risk.

They have also issued a warning about opening links that promise to increase the number of followers on social media.

Residents who are facing exploitation online are advised to report the incident to authorities.
