Almost ten kilograms of expired cosmetics and beauty products have been seized during an inspection in Dibba, Fujairah.

Dibba Municipal officials inspected 145 hair and beauty salons during Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, 88 ladies’ beauty centres and 57 barber shops, and seized 9.895 kg of expired cosmetics and beauty products.

Twenty-nine barbers and beauty salons have been fined for not following the municipality’s health and safety regulations while 15 others were warned.

Most of the breaches related to the use of expired or counterfeit materials, uncleanliness or poorly maintained tools.

“The team inspected the validity of the offered cosmetics and beauty products, the safety of the tools used at the salons, their compliance with the hygiene standards and proper sanitation of equipment. All those found to be violating regulations were warned and 29 others were fined,” he said.

The Municipality urged the public to report any violations by calling their 24/7 number 09 244 3399.

In January, Abu Dhabi City Municipality issued warnings to 45 salons and served eight court injunctions after inspection campaigns uncovered illegal, harmful products such as black henna, unsanitary conditions and equipment and managed to seize 1,045 packs of banned and expired material.
