DUBAI // A week before UAE National Day next Friday, celebrations have already begun around the country.
This year, there will be 219 official events throughout the Emirates, with cultural performances in malls and public spaces. They started on Thursday with a performance of the play Frozen, based on the Disney cartoon, which was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.
In Dubai, the City Walk festival will feature 35 events and 29 global folk art bands from more than 25 countries displaying their country’s shows, heritage and arts.
The ministry also launches an operetta, Noor Al Etihad, with the participation of artists from the UAE and other Arab countries, in addition to two shows by the European Union Orchestra, one in Abu Dhabi and one in Sharjah.
