DUBAI // Etisalat has announced a new roaming package designed to cut the cost of mobile calls and internet access while abroad.
Customers can sign up for daily, weekly or monthly packages.
Access to the internet starts at Dh25 a day, and the package allows customers to receive calls for 50 fils a minute.
The monthly "Traveller Pack" offer, which costs Dh500, includes 1GB of data and 1,000 incoming minutes of calls.
Customers can subscribe to the packages by dialling *177#.
"We have expanded our network of partners outside the UAE to pass on discounts to our customers," said Khaled El Khouly, chief marketing officer for Etisalat.
"Subscribers also have the option of choosing from standalone packages. However, the new bundle will provide more value for money, flexibility of options and convenient validity time."
At present, mobile users can face huge bills, especially for data use, while travelling if they are not careful to keep check of how much they are using.
Without subscription to a specialised roaming deal, web browsing overseas can cost as much as Dh1 for 30 kilobytes - equal to one short e-mail.
